Strengthened Coordination of Population and Gender Mainstreaming
This is a 5 year project implemented by the Ministry of Planning and National Development (MPND) and the Ministry of Gender and Family(MGF) under MPND execution. The project duration is from January 2003- December 2007.The project has two major objectives:
1) Strengthening intersectoral collaboration for planning and implementing population programmes and mainstreaming population and gender concerns,
2) Strengthening community based initiatives towards women’s empowerment in selected regions/atolls.
The specific goals of the project:
a) mainstreaming population and gender concerns,
b) human resource development,
c) policy research and quality data for development planning
d) advocacy on MDG’s population and gender issues and
e) facilitating community initiatives for women’s empowerment at atoll and island level in a selected atoll (Shaviyani atoll). |
